A coffin drape measures 8x5ft which gives an allowance for 12" fabric fall on all four sides of the casket.  Have a look at the following artwork with blue gridlines which shows the placement.  The 'head' of the casket is at the top of the artwork so its worth remembering these details if you plan of having flowers or anything else on the casket top.  If it can't be seen then it may not be worth including in the design. The outside border is the hem line which accounts for give or take one inch on every side of the drape.

Custom drapes

Artwork

Before we do anything on custom drapes we will need to work with you on a design for the drape.  We charge from £36 per design up to three drafts and the price of the artwork will be dependent on what you can supply by way of images and artwork and what we then have to do to create your final design. Most designs are pretty straight forward for us to recreate and we will always get your go ahead before starting any work. You also keep the digital file for future use across all media and we do keep a record of everything on file if you should need it at a future point.

We do suggest that we invoice for the artwork first and then once that has been determined we can give you a quote based on any of the following options. The printed flags, lined or unlined are a set price to create and the cost of the artwork is in addition, not included in the price listed below.

Please note that we generally do not charge to add a name or dates to a printed format drape.

The term 'POA' means price on application.

Choosing a drape format

There are quite a few options when choosing a format for a CUSTOM design coffin drape.  By 'custom' we mean one that is not listed in our national flag or A-Z website directory or if it is listed, a flag that needs detail added to it.  You have a choice of printed, half and half, and fully stitched using a variety of textiles.

Fringe, tassels and piping

We can of course add bullion fringe (most colours available) to all of the options listed above but it generally works best on lined drapes.

We make custom colour bullion tassels to match the fringe and to be added to the four corners of the drape if required and we can also make custom double or triple coloured bullion fringe to suit. 

Piping, whether twisted bullion or made to order (see example below) is also an option.

Client feedback on our coffin drape work

I just wanted to thank you and the team for the great job you did on the coffin drape for us. As this was a special request from his family it was VERY important to us to get it right and to be honest I felt a bit out of my depth when I was given responsibility for it.  However, at all stages of the process you inspired confidence that it would be done to a high standard – and it was! The funeral was a big event in the area.

Thanks so much for your kind words and for being able to meet our time constraints…for which, our family is immensely grateful to you and your team.  On a personal note, I’m so happy to have found a Welsh firm that could provide us with a Draig Goch (and one that is a social enterprise to boot!)….as most flag makers that I’ve researched were in England…for my father….a Draig Goch made for him on for his funeral, made outside of Wales?  …well, that simply would have been out of the question.
