The Groucho Club, London
We were commissioned to make a fully stitched canvas awning cover for an artist exhibiton at the Groucho Club, London. We faithfully reproduced the stitched version from a supplied digital impression with precise dimensions and fitting allowances.
We used stock colour duck cotton canvas for the stripes and colour fast cotton for the appliqued lettering. The Duck canvas is weather resistant and heavy and the best fabric to use for an installation like this for the six weeks or so the awning will be in place for the Feast of Fools project from Spark, part of the The Groucho Club’s commitment to backing emerging creative talent, following their Writer’s Residency.
Here we show the final reveal of the product and some pictures from our workshop of the awning in production.
