Reproduction of a painting in stitched fabric format
We were asked by a Client to interpret an historical painting and create a double faced banner to install as a permanent fixture in a museum at Golden Grove in the Bahamas.
First, we redrew the painting in digital format which took the image from this:

to this:

Once that part of the process was signed off, we recreated the image by printing the outline of the detail to 100% cotton linen and then applique overstitched the detail with taffeta, satin, wool, linen and matt cotton fabrics.
The finished banner, measuring 6x4ft was a triumph, see below:
